Will Pura Vida Landscape and Design Group, LLC provide a competitive bid for a project?
Our pricing is competitive, but we do not look for projects where we will be in competitive bid situations.
Why do I have to pay (and wait) for my design?
When you go to other landscape companies, they may give you a “sketch” (computer generated or hand-drawn) or just an oral description of what they will do. With us, you get a hand-drawn, to-scale drawing of your complete, unique and tailor-made landscape plan. It is yours once you pay for it. We also provide revisions without further cost (excepting complete changes in structure, aesthetics, or theme, etc).
Is the Design Fee refundable or applied to the overall cost of landscape installation?
The Design Fee is nonrefundable and is not applied to the cost of the installation. The Design Fee ensures that our designer is paid for their time doing the design work.
Why do I have to wait so long for an initial appointment?
We only have 1 landscape designer on staff. To allow for the necessary time and attention we need to give each customer and design, we have a limit on the number of appointments we take each month.
How do I get on the install calendar?
After your design is complete and revised as needed, we ask for a 25% deposit to get you on our installation calendar. Installs are based on a first come/first serve basis and your installation date range isn’t set until your deposit is paid. We do not allow customers to jump in front – so if you have an event you are planning for, we will likely not be able to accommodate for that date unless you are planning well in advance (at least 1 year in advance).
Why can’t I get an exact date for my installation or length of project?
We do our best to provide our installation services in a timely manner. We do try to give a date range you can expect for installation, but this often is affected by weather, crew and/or equipment issues as well as the other customers in line before you. Sometimes circumstances require an unexpected wait.
Why did my install get delayed?
We are a small company. We have one active landscaping crew. When weather, health issues, family issues/etc. get in the way, we have no way to avoid delays.
How long is my design and estimate good for?
Your design is good in perpetuity. The estimate is good from the time it is issued until the job is started. The estimate is just an estimate (a ballpark idea of cost) and your final cost is not set until a final invoice is issued after your installation is completed.
I have my design, but I need to split it up into phases. Can I do that?
Yes, we often work with customers who install their projects in phases. Just communicate your wish to phase the project with the designer and we will be glad to work with you.
Do I need to be home when my landscape is being installed?
No. You do not need to be home during installation. But, you should not plan any trips immediately after installation. It takes time to truly understand the watering schedule of your newly installed landscape. Initially, each plant needs watered as though it is still in a nursery pot through the first growing season. That’s daily and directed at the base of each plant. So, even if you have irrigation installed (unless it is drip irrigation), you have to be sure that each plant is getting the water it needs to become established in your landscape.
How do I know what to do to properly care for my landscape once it is installed?
Pura Vida Landscape and Design Group, LLC offers a Final Walk-Through at the end of your installation. At this walk-through, it is up to you (the owner) to take notes and learn about how to properly care for your landscape. Again, we are always here to answer any questions regarding your landscape to the best of our ability. We do provide a general landscape care sheet when we visit for our Final Walk Through. Many questions are answered on the general landscape care sheet.
Does Pura Vida Landscape and Design Group, LLC offer any guarantees on plantings?
We do offer guarantees in a limited fashion. We do not guarantee plants that die due to weather (drought or freezing temps, etc) or due to lack of water and other appropriate and necessary care. We will, however, within 3 months of installation, guarantee and replace any single plant that dies in your new landscape. In other words, if you are providing the appropriate, prescribed care for your plants, we will replace (at no cost) any one-off losses. We will not ever replace whole landscapes or entire sections of landscapes.
Will plant substitutions need to be made when my project is installed?
Yes, it is possible that plant substitutions will need to be made. If your design was completed in April, but we aren’t installing in fall, there may be other plant options available to use at the point. Substitutions are approved by the homeowner/client before installed.
